Blue Guava Gelato Strain Review

I do not enjoy standing in lines. My time is valuable. I instead could be creating or enjoying life. So when the Backback Boyz had their grand opening, I went the day after. There was no line at all, and I was able to get in and shop immediately. Also worth noting, the exclusive drops from the day before were still in stock. While there, I picked up a few different strains to review.

I must admit I was disappointed to see the model they adopted of $60 eighths that with tax are $75 out the door with no bulk discount. I hoped to see them adopt a Jungle Boys or LA Kush model where you could buy in bulk at a significantly discounted rate. Regardless, today I will be reviewing Blue Guava Gelato by the Backpack Boyz and 5 Points, one of the strains I picked up on that trip and an exclusive drop at the grand opening.

Blue Guava Gelato Genetics

When it comes to the genetics of Blue Guava Gelato, I have a theory on what the genetics are based on other Backpack Boyz Genetics. Now ‘bear’ with me, Blue Tommyz is the cross of Blue Gotti and Sunset Sherbert, indicating that the Backpack Boyz use Blue Gotti to cross strains to make them blue.

With that in mind and maintaining the same pattern, Blue Guava Gelato would be the cross of Blue Gotti and Guava Gelato. In contrast, Guava Gelato is Sherbinski’s cross of Thin Mint GSC and Sunset Sherbert. While the genetics of Blue Gotti is unknown.

Aroma

The nose of this strain is a complex mix of tropical, musty, sweet, floral, earthy notes leaning toward a more traditional Guava Gelato strain. I have seen speculation online that Blue Gotti is a Blue Dream and Gelato cross, and I think I might be getting hints of Blueberry from the genetic lineage. Also, the lighter hue buds have a similar appearance to Blue Dream.
